International Women’s Day is just around the corner and this day has always meant something deeply personal to me and has always been one of my favourite days of the year.
Long before Divine Imports existed, I worked within women’s empowerment charities...and still do! Supporting girls and women rebuilding their confidence, independence and sense of self. I have witnessed first-hand what happens when women are given opportunity, encouragement and belief.
It changes everything.
And when I later fell in love with Bali, its culture, its spirituality, its' craftsmanship, I couldn’t ignore something else I saw...the quiet strength of Balinese women.
The Women of Bali 🌺
Behind the beautiful handmade pieces we curate are real women. Mothers. Daughters. Providers.
Many Balinese women balance early mornings preparing offerings, long days working in markets or crafting handmade goods, and evenings caring for their families. Their resilience is humbling.
But not all women have equal access to stability.
- In parts of Bali, street mums face daily challenges, financial insecurity, limited access to education, and the pressure of providing for their children in a tourism-driven economy that can be unpredictable.
That’s why supporting them isn’t a marketing angle for us. It’s a responsibility.
Why Supporting Bali Street Mums Matters to Us
Divine Imports was never just about “pretty things.” It was built from love...love for travel, love for Bali, and love for supporting women in meaningful ways.
Through the relationships built on the ground in Bali, we are intentional about:
- Working with local artisans
- Supporting small, family-run businesses
- Contributing in ways that help women create stability for their families
When you shop with Divine Imports, you are supporting women who are:
- Funding their children’s education
- Building independent income stream
- Preserving traditional craftsmanship
- Creating brighter futures for their families
And that feels powerful.
From Women’s Empowerment Work to Divine Imports
My background in women’s charities shaped how I see business. I’ve seen women rebuild their lives from incredibly difficult circumstances. I’ve seen confidence grow in rooms where belief once felt impossible. So when I created Divine Imports in 2024, it felt natural that empowerment would sit at the heart of it. Because empowerment isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it looks like:
- A mum learning a new craft
- A woman opening her own small stall
- A community supporting each other
- A customer choosing to shop consciously
And sometimes, it looks like you...choosing to support something that stands for more than just products.
Celebrating Women Everywhere 🤎
On International Women’s Day, I want to celebrate:
- The women in Bali who inspire this business daily
- The women rebuilding their confidence and independence everywhere
- The women supporting women
- And you — for being part of this community
Divine Imports exists because of connection. Because of heart. Because of women who create, support, nurture and lead.
So today, we celebrate strength in softness.
Resilience in quiet determination.
And the power of women uplifting women.
With love,
